Gig Harbor Walk for a Cure

About three years ago I had the pleasure of photographing Liam Kelly and his amazing dog Max. Liam has diabetes and Max is a very specially trained dog that alerts him to when his blood sugar is low. It's really quite amazing to watch them work together!

Spring forward three years and Liam is now a senior at GHHS. His senior project is creating and hosting his own Walk for a Cure. I was so pleased when he called me up to photograph this awesome event. I will surely be posting pictures later this weekend :)

Gig Harbor High School H2Whoa dancers

Every year I have the honor of photographing Gig Harbor High Schoool's amazing dance team the H2Whoas. This year we decided to do our shoot at the Glass Museum in Tacoma. The girls bring several different dance outfits and we do group pictures in each. Then we shoot their individuals and then comes the really fun part. The candids!

You can tell by smiles smiles on these beautiful faces how much the love each other and enjoy each other!

Harbor Fire Girls Lax

On Saturday I had the fun experience of watching the Harbor Fire high school girls varsity lacrosse team in their season opening jamboree on Bainbridge Island. My daughter has been playing for Harbor Fire the past four years and just loves it!

The best thing with these girls is how well they get along both off and on the field. Every practice the girls come off the field smiling and laughing. They make plans for after practice and are currently in the process of planning a big team bonding event. I cant imagine a better place for my daughter to be!

LeLe!

Beautiful, fabulous, gorgeous LeLe! We had a wonderful time at Owen Beach at Pt Defiance park in Tacoma. It was mostly cloudy but when the sun peeked out we quickly got her into her Hawaiian outfit. It had a special name... but I can't remember what is was called! But it is just so exciting as a photographer to photograph something as unique as it was. LeLe asked me 'Should I put the flowers in my hair?' OF COURSE!!! It totally makes the outfit!

Fashion Friday!

The biggest, most important question a client asks is 'What do I wear to my session?'

Here is a great example of the perfect outfit! You never want to wear anything that is too tight or too loose. Try your outfit on a week or even the day before your session to make sure it fits. Look at yourself from all angles in the mirror. Colors are also very important. The contrast between the beige tank and the red top, and then the red top and the blue jeans and the dark brown boats and the blue jeans make for an outfit that is very photogenic. It is also important to have the finishing touches of coordinating earrings and necklace. This outfit is fun and unique and really shows personality!

Sister and Brother

I was lucky enough to photograph these two in their beautiful Gig Harbor home. On top of that it was a gorgeous sunny FEBRUARY day so they were able to dress for Spring :)

Once I got their I quickly discovered that my oldest daughter goes to school and is in the same grade as the pretty one in white and next year my youngest will go to school the young man in these pictures. Gig Harbor always has been and I think it always will be a small town!

Cleve from Ocean Shores

I can't even begin to tell you how honored I was to take Cleve's senior pictures. He and his family (and his girlfriend!) drove all the way from Ocean Shores just to have me photograph his senior pictures. Especially being a guy- this is pretty amazing! Just the night before his basketball team wrapped up the state championship so it was really cool to photograph him in his letterman's jacket. And for sure his pictures will be unique and not like any other of his classmates :)

Basketball girl

Another amazing basketball player- it's that season! It's just so much fun when seniors bring personal items that are really important to them. It a terrific way to make their pictures that much more special. Dramikha just had her 'senior night' game with her basketball team. I'm sure emotions were running high!

Funky little princesses

A little tbt for the blog today! Here we have Tinkerbell, Snow White and Cinderella. My daughter and her friends a very long time ago. This was after they were so over disney princesses but we still thought it would be fun to do this quirky little photo shoot :)

Now they are all 15. Driving, boyfriends, high school, but still such good friends. Wow- time flies!

PHS Basketball- Gig Harbor Boys

After a fun and fantastic basketball season is a perfect time to get pictures. Way to go Peninsula High School basketball! These brothers were great sports getting their pics done for grandma and grandpa :)

A Photographer's Valentine...

Now that it's February I know EVERYONE is wondering what to get a photographer for Valentine's Day... Yum! A chocolate camera works great. Although it is a Cannon... But rest assured, I'd still eat it :)

January Senior Session!

This was a perfect January day! Not too cold. Not too cloudy. Not too rainy. Just an unusually nice day! Tyler brought some fabulous outfits for her two hour senior session. They all worked great for both of the locations we went to: Sehmel and the Purdy Spit.

Sweet Maternity!

This darling family is a recent transplant to the Northwest. They came all the from upstate New York a couple of months ago. They were referred to BerryLane Photography from a past family client- awesome!

They were so excited to capture these images of their soon to be expanding family. Little Luke is especially excited and calls their new arrival 'my baby'.

I am so looking forward for March to come when I get to photograph baby boy #2! Cant wait :)
