Pull Back Shots

I thought it would be interesting for you all to see some pull back shots of the images I posted earlier from SPA. Shooting in the full desert sun is quite a challenge! Look at all the reflectors, diffusers and help you need to get those great images. Kind of makes Washington's gray skies seem not too bad....

Model Shoot at SPA

Here are some of the images I took during our model shoots on the third and forth day at SPA. These seniors were so patient while their 'pro' taught us all kinds of great info! They had no modeling experience prior to winning the SPA Model competition and coming out to Tucson. What an adventure! It was wonderful to have 'live' seniors to practice on.

Just Got back From SPA Event- Tucson, AZ!

What is SPA Event you say? Well, here's what they say:
"SPA Event More- than a convention, more than a school, spa Event is a hands-on, interactive environment designed to meet the needs of today’s senior portrait artist."

What is SPA Event you say? Well, here is what I say:
Spa Event is the most amazing, fun and wonderful convention I have ever been to. We spent five days in Arizona being taught by top senior photographers from all over the country (take a look at the fun shots of Parker J, and Jeff & Julia Woods!).

We learned about marketing, lighting, posing, post processing, and interacting with seniors. There were 15 2008 seniors who were given an all expense paid trip to come model for us. Each photographer was given the opportunity to enter senior portfolios for a chance of their senior to be chosen as a SPA Model.

These seniors modeled in the Lights.Camera. Fashion.™ runway show that highlighted all of the upcoming fashions this spring and summer, giving us photographers some insight on what sort of outfits to expect, and how best to photograph them. We also took a 'field trip' to the Pima Air Museum where each senior was matched up with a top photographer who taught all of us 'attendees' everything they new! What fun!

SPA is a national organization that I belong to. Here is how they describe themselves:
"Senior Portrait Artists (spa - pronounced spah) is an organization on a constant quest to provide information for the senior photographer in a creative, artistic, and innovative form from both inside and outside the photography industry. SPA has been specifically designed to reach the needs of the senior photographers."

I must say, they do a wonderful job! Check out their website at www.spartist.com
