Aaahhh- the Tyee Cup!

Among everything else I do, I never realized how much fun it is to be a 'Soccer Mom'. I took several days off to fully enjoy my girls playing in this three day soccer tournament. It was really great. I love seeing the excitement, the joy and the teamwork these girls put together.

I would recommend it to anyone!

Audrey

While Audrey goes to school in Tacoma- we did her senior pictures at a great park in Federal Way.

Audrey- it has been really hard to choose which images I wanted to show you here. There so many that I love. I have a lot of your great serious look- so high fashion, but I wanted you to see this beautiful smiling one too! Hope you enjoy!

PS: I ate the candy corn all the way back to Gig Harbor- yuuuummmm!

I loved being in downtown Tacoma for your senior photos. It was the perfect location for all your fun outfits! There are so many great images it was really hard to choose just three to preview!

Your cowboy hat, the dress by the fountain, climbing that huge tree... you're going to love them all!

Trash the Dress Tips

So many people are interested in doing a Trash the Dress along with their senior photo session. Here are some great tips on what makes for a good Trash the Dress experience:

- find a long, flowy dress, that will float up in the water
- darker vibrant colors are best (NO WHITE!)
- wear a simple necklace
- have your hair down so we can get it wet
- bring flip flops to wear in the water
- wear waterproof mascara
- wear a swimsuit under your dress
(feels better when it gets wet!)

Where can you find a great dress? Here are some suggestions from my '09 senior models: ebay, 2nd hand stores, sister's closet, clearance racks at the mall, borrow from a friend.

And I just wanted to note- not a single dress ever actually gets 'trashed'. Just get it right in to a dry cleaners and it will come back just like new!

Here is another Gig Harbor model- Alex. He couldn't make it to our Black Tie Beach event because of a basketball commitment. So, just to be fair, I made him get in the water too....

Actually, Alex was game for anything! He was very relaxed and easy going in front of the camera. And it was so stinkin' hot that day it probably felt good to get a little wet!

Melanie models for another one of our Tacoma schools. She has been patiently waiting to see a couple portraits from this photo shoot! I love her green dress and how it floats in the water. It was a perfect choice for 'trashing'. Beautiful!

Sarah- since I had already done your official senior pictures in Tacoma earlier last week I felt like you were an old pro at this! Thanks for being such a trooper getting into that cold water, not once, but twice! You have such a great look about you- I'm very excited for you to see all of your images.

Alexa, I am so happy to able to photograph you! You have a quiet confidence that I loved capturing. I have some awfully silly laughing shots of you just getting into that freezing Puget Sound water but I was going for that stunning look and boy did I get it! Great job!

Adam

Oh yes, even Adam ended up in the water. I think he thought he avoided it all- but no, he was just the last one in! I'm just not sure what to call it- he certainly wasn't trashing a dress. But it was fun none the less!

Thanks for coming early Adam and man-handling all our stuff down to the beach!

Kate- the black dress your wore really helped me create stunning and dramatic pictures. I actually have just as many full out laughing shots of you, but once you got your 'serious face' down- watch out! This Gig Harbor beach was perfect for these photos- what fun!

Melanie- what a perfect session we had! You are going to love your senior pictures. The two locations you chose in Steilacoom and Tacoma work perfectly together to give you a lot of variety and looks.

It was great to be able to choose from all the different outfits you brought. So many options- loved it!

Here is Jori. A senior model from one of our Gig Harbor schools. I think the pearl necklace she wore in her portraits really adds that extra touch. And her purple dress was amazing! Hope you've warmed up Jori!

This is my senior model Audrey, from one of our schools in Tacoma. The first of many you will be seeing from our Black Tie Beach event. I was so happy the weather in Gig Harbor was perfect for our photography session. The warm air made the water not quite so cold!

Audrey- you did such a nice job posing exactly how I requested. I'm really looking forward to your actual senior session!

Black Tie Beach

Wow- what a perfect day! The limos picked up my senior models for their photography session at 3:45pm and they headed off to Sunrise Beach, Gig Harbor for a fabulous day of 'Trash the Dress'. The girls couldn't have looked better- each one of their prom dresses were a different color- almost as if it were planned. And Adam was perfect with black, black and more black.

There were big (and I mean big!) warm fuzzy towels and lots of good food to eat. This group shot was the last one of the day- after everyone had been in the water (yes it was cold!) and on the beach.

I think the parents had even more fun than the seniors. They sure were laughing as each of their kids got a turn in the water!

Sarah- I loved the two locations you chose for your session! It was really fun not having ever shot there before.You are so calm and poised in front of the camera. You made it very easy for me! Now- here's a test- Can you tell where the black and white image was taken? I love your smile in it!
